Carpet cleaning in Barnes

Barnes, SW13, is just across the river from us, and on a map it looks like the nearest job we do: over Hammersmith Bridge and down Castelnau. The van can’t take that route. The bridge has been closed to motor traffic since 2019 and is open only to people walking and cycling. So we drive round by Putney Bridge, which adds time at either end of the day.

Planning a Barnes visit

Because of the detour we would sooner plan Barnes jobs a few days ahead than squeeze one in at short notice. The price stays the same as in Fulham; only the drive is longer. Barnes is in the borough of Richmond upon Thames, so the parking rules there are that council’s, and we will ask what is outside your house when you book.

Whole houses, more stairs

Many Barnes jobs are whole houses, which means more stairs. As a guide, a hall at £22, two flights at £41 each with two landings at £9, a living room at £43 and three bedrooms at £36 come to £273. A single-storey extension at the back, carpeted, is priced as whichever room it is used as.

A whole house like that is most of a day’s work, so Barnes bookings usually start first thing. If you live on or near Castelnau, bear in mind that we can’t simply nip over the bridge for a small job. A lone rug at £35 falls under the £67 minimum anyway, so adding the stairs or a bedroom makes the drive round worth it.

For the same reason, a Barnes job is best done in one go. If you want the sofa and the carpets done, book them together, so the machine makes the trip round by Putney once and everything gets its drying time on the same afternoon.

Rugs are £35 up to 3 square metres, and a two-seater sofa is £57. Both are tested before any water goes on, and both dry in a few hours with a window open.
